Spidey Keeps NYC Safe in Latest Trailers for ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’

Spider-Man: Homecoming Trailer

“What are you hiding, Peter?” Sony has unleashed two more trailers for Spider-Man: Homecoming, hitting theaters in the middle of the summer. Tom Holland stars as (the new) Peter Parker, who was first introduced in Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War. This story continues with Parker returning from the events in that movie, still trying to figure out his place as a teenager in NYC. The focus seems to be entirely on the city, and it’s cool to see him caring about stolen bikes and old ladies. The full cast includes Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan, Michael Keaton as The Vulture, as well as Donald Glover, Robert Downey Jr., Martin Starr, Logan Marshall-Green, Angourie Rice, Hannibal Buress, and Zendaya. I like the US version of these trailers more, better footage. Looking forward to this. ›››

Review: Gunn’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ is an Emotional Cosmic Adventure

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Review

In 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy, James Gunn introduced the world to a team of miscreants and misfits forced to come together and save the galaxy. To put it bluntly, they’re a bunch of a-holes. With the sequel, titled Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, the latest feature from Marvel Studios, the writer-director is tasked with delivering a story that not only continues the epic and irreverent adventures of Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) and his gang of lovable weirdos, but furthers their evolution as characters as well. Set to the ’70s soft rock stylings of Awesome Mix Vol. 2, the sequel picks up a few months after the first film ended. ›››

Teaser Trailer for Marvel’s ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Directed by Taika Waititi

Thor: Ragnarok Trailer

“Now I know what you’re thinking: how did this happen? Well, it’s a long story…” Holy smokes this looks so awesome. Disney + Marvel have revealed the first teaser trailer for Thor: Ragnarok, the next sequel in the Thor series. This is directed by New Zealand filmmaker Taika Waititi, who brings his own comedic edge to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Chris Hemsworth is back as Thor, with a seriously kick ass cast: Cate Blanchett as Hela, Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Karl Urban as Skurge, plus all of the others from before including Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Idris Elba as Heimdall, Jaimie Alexander as Sif, and Anthony Hopkins as Odin. There’s a very cool sci-fi side to this that looks so cool (plus it feels like this fits right into the Guardians of the Galaxy universe) but it’s all about the big battle between Thor and Hulk that we get a tiny glimpse of at the end of this trailer. Ohhh yes. Dive right in! ›››

Second Trailer for ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Starring Tom Holland

Spider-Man: Homecoming Trailer

“If you’re nothing without this suit, then you shouldn’t have it.” Sony has revealed the second official trailer for the new Spider-Man: Homecoming movie, bringing back the friendly neighborhood web-slinger for another solo adventure in New York City. Tom Holland stars as (the new) Peter Parker, who was first introduced in Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War. This story continues with Parker returning from the events in that movie, still trying to figure out his place as a teenager in NYC. This actually looks great, and has plenty of Spidey action to offer. Fire it up below. ›››

Hugh Jackman’s Final Wolverine Movie Explores ‘Logan’ for First Time

Hugh Jackman as Logan

“Nature made me a freak. Man made me a weapon. And God made it last too long.” Hugh Jackman has made nine appearances as the Wolverine over seventeen years. In that time, I don’t think we’ve really ever gotten to know who Wolverine is until Logan this year. It is Jackman’s definitive, and coincidentally final, performance as the feral mutant. It’s hard to realize that it took nine movies and nearly two decades to finally understand what drives this hulking, angry loner. However, let’s examine how Logan, even though it marks Hugh Jackman’s final time playing Wolverine, actually feels like the first real Wolverine movie yet. ›››

Watch: Ryan Reynolds Returns in First Teaser Trailer for ‘Deadpool 2’

Deadpool 2 Teaser Trailer

“Zip it, Stan Lee!” He’s back!! 20th Century Fox has officially revealed a teaser trailer for Deadpool 2, the sequel to Ryan Reynolds’ R-rated comic book movie from 2016. Reynolds returns to play Wade Wilson, the “Merc with a Mouth”, though not much is known about the plot of this next one. This teaser was secretly attached to the beginning of Logan and can be seen in theaters this weekend. No one knew it was coming, and most of us didn’t even know the sequel had started filming yet, but here we are. I love seeing surrpise teasers like this – it’s exciting and encouraging, the studio is confident and fans will notice. The cast is said to include David Harbour as Cable, but nothing is confirmed. For now – kick back and enjoy this first teaser. ›››

Review: ‘Logan’ is Actor Hugh Jackman’s Finest ‘X-Men’ Outing to Date

Logan Review

Australian actor Hugh Jackman looks tired playing Wolverine. Granted, anyone would give off the same level of weariness if they played the same role in nine films across 17 years, so there’s very little blame to be laid at the actor’s feet here. It isn’t a tiredness in having to play Wolverine so often, though, that makes the fatigue so palpable in the movie Logan, the actor’s latest and presumably final appearance as the most famous member of the X-Men squad. That’s simply his emotional mindset being conveyed in this latest entry into the X-Men franchise, the culmination of an exhausting life for the self-healing mutant. Packing as much emotional punch as it does sci-fi, blockbuster thrills, Logan ends up being a near-perfect sendoff for the character and exactly what any fan of this series would want in a finale for the beloved character. ›››

Review: James Mangold’s ‘Logan’ is Brutal, Beautiful & Heartbreaking

Logan Movie Review

Australian actor Hugh Jackman first played the character of Wolverine back in 2000 in the film that launched the modern day, comic book blockbuster – Bryan Singer’s X-Men. Now 17 years later, the Academy Award-nominated actor has inhabited the character an unprecedented nine times on the big screen — that’s more times than Roger Moore suited up as James Bond or Robert Englund terrorized Elm Street as Freddy Krueger. With Logan, out in theaters everywhere on March 3rd, Jackman and director James Mangold (of Walk the Line, 3:10 to Yuma, and The Wolverine) craft something special as a means of laying to rest Jackman’s iconic role: an intimate, character-driven film that is brutal, beautiful, and deeply affecting. ›››

“Groot – put your seat belt on!” Ready to rock ‘n roll? Marvel has unveiled the third trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, James Gunn’s follow-up to the hugely successful Marvel sci-fi superhero movie from 2014. This trailer is set to Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain”, which seems pretty much perfect for this movie. Chris Pratt returns as Star-Lord, with a cast including Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Chris Sullivan, Elizabeth Debicki, Kurt Russell, Dave Bautista, Michael Rooker, Nathan Fillion, Glenn Close, as well as Pom Klementieff; plus Vin Diesel as Groot and Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon. There’s a bit more footage in this and it’s looking better and better as we get closer to release. This is going to rule. ›››

Berlinale 2017: Mangold’s ‘Logan’ is an Excellent Wolverine Western

Logan Review

Let’s make this clear right at the start – this is not another Marvel Studios movie. Logan is a stand-alone, outstanding, one-of-a-kind X-Men movie made for adults. It’s violent as all hell, emotional and captivating, gritty and grounded, and exciting to experience. Director James Mangold really hit a home run with this one, bucking the trend and going with his gut to deliver a superb “Wolverine Western”. I had to see Logan twice at the Berlin Film Festival before writing this review, to confirm how awesome it is. I haven’t enjoyed watching an X-Men movie this much in such a long time, and I’d say this is easily one of the best X-Men movies. It’s not really an X-Men movie, but it actually is – there’s so much mutant mythology hidden within. ›››
